About the necessity of educational program’s revision and creation of new modern textbook on pharmacognosy

Abstract

The questions of necessity of educational program’s revision and creation of new textbook on pha­rmacognosy which will correspond the modern world level of pharmacognosy as science and educational discipline are considered. In particular, it is suggested to correct a chemical classification of bioactive substances (BAS) and distributing of medical plants on classes of basic acting substances. So, in the class of flavonoids it is recommended to include the subclasses of flavonoid-alkaloids and isoprenil-flavonoids; as an independent class it is suggested to select phenylisoprenoids, to section «Coumarines» to add a subsection «Isocoumarines», section «Alkaloids» — two subsections: alkaloids with an azepinic cycle and pirrole alkaloids. It is suggested also to study in more detail organic acids (in particular, lactones of organic acids), hydroxycinnamic acids, carotinoids, isothiocyanates, polyacetilenes, silatranes, arsenic-containing substances in pharmacognosy course. The questions of attribute of some medical plants to the certain BAS class are examined: Rhodiola rosea, Leonurus species, Passiflora incarnata, Humulus lupulus; 8 new plants are recommended to the study.
