The study of the rheological properties of the ointment with zinc salt of hyaluronic acid and thiotriazolin

Abstract

Physical and physical-chemical properties of soft medicinal forms for topical use should be investigated at the stage of their preparation for implementation in industrial production. This allows adequate and comprehensive assessment of consumption characteristics of the drug, developed and, if necessary, adjustment the composition and technology of its production. Such properties of soft dosage forms primarily include rheological parameters of preparation.

In the present study the rheological properties of the ointment with a zinc salt of hyaluronic acid and thiotriazolin have been examined to determine thixotropic properties, extruding ability, texture and spreadability.

The objects of the study were samples of the ointment with zinc salt of hyaluronic acid and thiotriazolin, which rheological properties investigated on the unit «Rheotest-2» with coaxial cylinders.

Basing on the studies plotted rheograms of sample ointments with zinc salt of hyaluronic acid and thiotriazolin on the spreadability and consistency properties optima. In the analysis of these curves it is clear that ointments flow curves do not go beyond the optima. This demonstrates the attribution of the ointment to structured systems and it possesses thixotropic properties, satisfactory spreadability and consistency indicators.
