As a result of the comparative analysis of assortment of drugs for palliative and hospice care according to the SDF from second to fifth edition was found that the basic coefficients of assortment upgrading were, respectively, – 2.32, 2.21 and 2.18 and the chain – 2.32, 0.92 and 0.99. It has been shown that in the second edition of the Formulary were included medicines from 7 therapeutic subgroups of ATC-system, and in the third to fifth editions – 17 subgroups of drugs.

It was determined that the greatest changes in drug assortment were observed in the therapeutic subgroups «M01A Anti-inflammatory and antirheumatic products, non-steroids», «N02B Other analgesics and antipyretics» and «N05C Hypnotics and sedatives». Also it has been found that the assortment of opioid analgesics for the treatment of chronic pain syndrome and antiemetics has not changed. Thus, for the first time in the fifth edition of Formulary the dosage of morphine sulfate in the form of tablets was indicated.

In the third edition of  SDF the significant increase of assortment as compared with the previous one was observed, and in fourth and fifth - a significant reduction. The inclusion of morphine sulfate tablets in the SDF is an important step towards the improvement of the availability of oral opioid analgesics and adequate pain relief.
