Medical cosmetics in Ukraine: realities and prospects

Abstract

Cosmetic remedies are significant part of pharmacy institutions. It’s important to take into account pharmacies’ specifics and to provide people having problem skin and the special needs of skin with cosmetic remedies assortment. Requirements to cosmetics according to the European legislation requirements harmonization, the necessity of definition and requirements to medical cosmetics, hygienic care remedies for problem skin and skin appendages development are pressing questions which have been studied in the article.

The object of the study was the market of remedies produced in cosmetic forms (creams, gels, lotions, etc.).

The study was carried out by legislative framework content analysis, scientific publications and marketing analysis of pharmaceutical institutions assortment.

As a result, it was determined that the implementation of new terms and their definitions for groups of cosmetics is required. It can be recommended in complex treatment and care for problem skin. Terminology used in regulatory documents for cosmetic products and medicines with cosmetic effect requires regulation. It is necessary to develop criteria of assessment for the quality and efficacy of special purposes cosmetics and to develop a concept of implementation.
